History

Anwa temple is located about 10 km from Golegaon. This is the small village near Aurangabad in Maharashtra. This temple is famous for Lord Shiva and the temple has the history dating back to the 12th century. Anwa temple consists of an open hall and also a sanctuary with many pillars well decorated. This temple is located on the road which leads to Ajanta Caves from Aurangabad. The village in which the temple is located became very famous because of Anwa temple as many people started visiting the temple everyday. Moreover the beautifully carved sculptures and well decorated pillars have attracted many tourists coming from many other places. The weather in this location will be low in terms of humidity, but it will not be extreme also.

Anwa temple also holds the images of Lord Ganesha, Lord Vishnu and many other divinities worshiped by people. Since the temple is located near the Ajanta Caves, it becomes very convenient for people to visit the temple through the means of road transport. There are many state buses functioning to enhance people to visit the temple and there is also a flexibility of using private vehicles and taxis which is the best and a comfortable transportation mode. Many hotels are located around Ajanta to make the accommodation facility easy for those coming from far distances. Government guesthouse also provides the accommodation facilities for the tourists. The best time to visit Anwa temple is between the months of October and February.
